A boil water notice was issued in the City of Hallandale Beach, FL yesterday (Tuesday, September 28) after a contractor broke a 6” water main, causing a leak.

The affected section of the water main is on the west side of Federal Highway, between Pembroke Rd & NE 7th St. News of the leak and boil water notice was shared on the City’s Twitter page.

It appears that the leak occurred in relation to scheduled maintenance to the water system, which was set to take place until Friday, October 1.

At the time of posting, City officials said that it was unknown how long the leak would take to repair.

Residents must boil their water as a precautionary measure as the leak is repaired, the system is flushed, service is restored, and the water is tested for contamination.

There has been no estimate on how long this will take, but it typically takes up to 48 hours for bacteria test results to be returned.
