A boil water notice has been issued to the City of Fort Myers after a momentary power outage at the city’s water plant, which caused water pressure to drop below normal levels.

The notice was issued yesterday (Sunday, September 12). While water pressure has now returned to normal, residents were asked to boil their water as a precautionary measure while tests for contamination are carried out.

Residents will be notified when a bacteriological survey shows water is safe to drink, and the boil water notice will be rescinded.

Customers can phone the City’s Public Works at 239-321-8100 with any questions. Further updates are pending.
