🧾 Overview

Featuring a 5 stage reverse osmosis system, the NU Aqua Platinum Series is an under sink water purifier for removal of over 1,000 contaminants and impurities from household drinking water.

With a high flow rate of 100 GPD, this system can produce a water output at double the speed of most standard RO systems.

It comes with a PPM meter, allowing users to check the cleanliness of their water and monitor the level of total dissolved solids.

When filters need changing, the PPM meter will give a user indication of any decline in performance based on water TDS levels.  The system also includes a bonus step-by-step instructional DVD for installation.

💡 Features

Chrome faucet & 3.2 gallon storage tank

The system features a designer non-air gap faucet for installation at a kitchen sink. The faucet’s chrome body prevents water from picking up contaminants from the storage tank to a drinking glass. Users can also connect the RO unit to a refrigerator or ice maker if preferred.

Flow restrictor & shut-off valve

For the most efficient reverse osmosis, the system features a flow restrictor that prevents backflow of water through tor RO membrane. This minimizes wastewater production and speeds up storage tank refill.

The system’s shut-off valve prevents water from flowing through the system once the tank is full, again minimizing water waste.

Sediment filter

The RO filter’s 5 micron polypropylene sediment filter removes large particles from the water, like rust, sand and dirt. This is essential for preventing clogging, build-up or damage to the system at the later RO stages.

Pre-carbon filter

Eliminating the finer, deep seated particles, the system’s pre-carbon filter provides the second stage of particle removal. The pre-carbon filter targets sludge, rust, color, odor, pesticides and other organic pollutants in particular.

Carbon filter

For a third and final particle removal, the RO unit’s coconut carbon block filter gets rid of any of the remaining chemicals and contaminants that are lingering in the water, including chlorine, organic compounds, heavy metals and unpleasant tastes and odors.

RO membrane

At the heart of this RO system is the semi-permeable membrane, which forces water through tiny holes to remove over 1,000 total dissolved solids, including lead, pesticides, arsenic, bacteria, viruses, and much more.

Carbon polishing filter

To give water one final polish between the storage tank and the faucet, this system uses a granular activated coconut shell carbon polishing filter. This removes any odors or tastes the water may have picked up from the tank, resulting in the highest quality drinking water.

Bonus PPM meter

The system comes with a bonus PPM meter, which can be used to measure the level of total dissolved solids in water and determine how clean it is. The PPM meter is useful for checking that filters are working efficiently, and indicating when they may need changing.

🚦 Performance

With 5 different water filtration stages, including the reverse osmosis process, the NU Aqua Platinum Series removes over 1,000 contaminants from household drinking water.

Clear sediment housing allows users to watch contaminants being removed. Users can monitor TDS water levels with the included PPM meter.

The NU Aqua Platinum Series produces water at a pure water to wastewater ratio of around 1:2. This means that for every 1 gallon of water that is produced, 2 gallons are wasted – a better average than the standard 1:4 ratio for most RO systems.

Efficiency of this RO system may be affected by incoming water pressure. A user should be sure that their incoming pressure is between 40 and 70 PSI to minimize water waste and speed up flow of water into the holding tank.

A booster pump can be purchased to improve in-going water pressure if needed.

🔧 Installation & Maintenance

The NU Aqua Platinum Series is designed for at-home installation by the user. With quick-connect fittings and color-coded tubing, installation is quick and painless.

The system also comes with a bonus installation video to give step-by-step instructions for users who prefer visual support. The NU Aqua Platinum Series’ compact design allows it to fit fairly easily in a standard kitchen sink space.

Designed to provide high-quality water with lasting durability and no leaks, the NU Aqua Platinum Series shouldn’t require much maintenance aside from annual filter changing. The interiors of the tank and filter housing do not require cleaning.

📝 Filter Info

The NU Aqua Platinum Series consists of 5 different filter stages for thorough water purification.

All the filters are included with the kit at the initial purchase. Replacement filters can be purchased online at factory pricing.

The sediment filter, pre-carbon, carbon and carbon polishing filter will require changing every 1 year, or when the PPM meter indicates that filters are working less efficiently.

The RO membrane has a slightly longer lifespan, usually between 1 and 3 years depending on water usage.

🔔 Pros & Cons

👍 What I Like

  • The system’s built-in flow restrictor and shut-off valve prevent water from passing back through the reverse osmosis membrane, which enables more efficiency, less wastewater production and faster pure water production.
  • The bonus PPM meter allows users to measure the level of total dissolved solids in water. Users can measure water at different stages of the RO process to get a clearer idea of filter efficiency.
  • While most RO systems have a flow rate of 50 GPD, the NU Aqua Platinum Series has a rate of 100 GPD, doubling the output of clean drinking water for faster tank refill.
  • For users who may find installation difficult, the system comes with a bonus instructional DVD to provide verbal step-by-step instructions with images to give a better idea of how to assemble the unit.

👎 What I Don’t Like

  • This RO unit does not come with an alkaline remineralization filter. Users who prefer the taste of alkaline water will need to consider purchasing a filter at an additional cost to connect to the system.
  • The system will not work well with a household water pressure of 45 PSI or under. Households with low incoming water pressure will need to purchase a booster pump to prevent excess water waste and speed up the RO process.
