Eastern Heights Water Works customers served by Amite Well in Tangipahoa, LA have been issued a boil water advisory following a break in the main water line.

The advisory was issued yesterday (Wednesday, 29 September) and, according to a press release by Eastern Heights Water Works, affects customers south of Irwin Lane to North of Populis Lane and all points east and west. It extends from the Tangipahoa River bridge area all the way east to Smiling Acres Road.

The main water break occurred on Cooper Road yesterday morning. At the time of the press release, officials said that crews were working to repair the main.

Residents living in the advisory area should boil their water until advised otherwise. Once the leak is repaired, the system will need to be flushed, then tested for bacteria.

It typically takes around 48 hours for bacteriological test results to be returned after water service has been restored.

The advisory does not apply to customers who are serviced by the Sweetwater well, east of Independence.
