A boil water advisory has been issued by officials in the City of Hudsonville after emergency repairs were carried out on the water system yesterday (Wednesday, September 22).

The repairs have now been completed on the Highland Drive water system west of 32nd Avenue, but depressurization was required in the process, which increases the potential for contamination.

Water customers living in Highland Drive between Buttermilk Court and 32nd Avenue, all addresses on Buttermilk Court, and all addresses on South Buttermilk Court, have all been asked to boil their water as a precautionary measure.

According to a Facebook post, residents may see cloudy water (air bubbles) or water with slight discoloration if they live in the vicinity of the repair site. This should clear within a couple of days.

Affected residents were hand-delivered letters informing them of the boil water advisory. Another letter will be delivered when the advisory is rescinded.

In an update to the original Facebook post, City officials said that they expected the advisory to be lifted by Friday.
