A boil water advisory has been issued to all customers in the City of Bardstown, KY, after a reported mechanical failure yesterday (Monday, August 9).

The mechanical failure occurred in the city’s water treatment plant and caused a reduced volume of water to be treated at the facility.

This caused an issue with maintaining the water tank levels, and resulted in a low distribution system pressure, according to the advisory.

Customers received the advisory by email and post. The advisory was also shared in a Facebook post.

City officials warned that customers may experience “low or intermittent water pressure”. When water pressure is too low, there is a greater risk of contamination from outside sources.

However, the boil water advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure, and no break in the system or contamination has been detected.

The advisory is expected to stay in place for up to three days. Residents will be notified by the City as soon as the advisory has been lifted.
