A main water line break in Elloree, SC, has prompted the Elloree Water System to issue a boil water advisory on a precautionary basis.

The advisory was issued yesterday (Friday, October 1) to all water customers after a break was discovered in the main line located near Lyons Park.

The Elloree Water System along with the Elloree Police Department and Mayor Fanning are working to repair the break and restore service.

Some residents may have experienced a drop in water pressure. Even when water pressure is restored, customers should continue to boil their water until notified otherwise.

Bacteriological testing will need to be carried out to determine that the line break didn’t result in contamination. It usually takes at least 48 hours for results to be returned.
