Express Water 10 Stage RO Mineralizing Water Filter Review (2023)

🧾 Overview

The Express Water Alkaline Reverse Osmosis Filtration System is the ideal reverse osmosis water solution for users looking for clean, fresh drinking water with the added benefits of remineralization.

Combining a total of 10 stages of water filtration and mineralisation, this system provides thorough removal of contaminants from unfiltered drinking water, including lead, pesticides and herbicides, chlorine and chloronium, arsenic, bacteria and much more.

For a healthier end product, the Express Water Alkaline Reverse Osmosis Filtration System remineralizes the water before it reaches the faucet, adding potassium, calcium, magnesium and other beneficial nutrients for pH positive water.

💡 Features

Chrome faucet with fast water way

The system comes with its own chrome faucet, which replaces a standard kitchen sink faucet. Sleek in design, the faucet has a brass water way to prevent the pure water from picking up additional contaminants on its journey from the storage tank to a drinking glass.

4 gallon storage tank

With the capacity to produce 50 gallons of RO water a day, the system stores filtered water in a 4 gallon holding tank before it can pass through to the faucet. The tank takes between 1 and 2 hours to fill entirely.

Leak stop valve

The leak stop valve is built into the system and shuts off water flow if excess water is detected. This works alongside a fabric disk, which is in contact with the floor, and prevents water flow to the system if water is absorbed, minimizing the risk of a major leak.

Sediment filter

The first stage of filtration in this RO system passes water through a sediment filter, which targets larger particles of dust, sand, rust and dirt. This improves the lifespan of the unit by preventing these particles from clogging filters or damaging the semi-permeable membrane.

Carbon block and carbon granular filters

The system’s carbon block and carbon granular filters combine to make the second and third stages of water filtration. Pollutants like chlorine, organic chemicals, and other compounds that give water a poor taste and odor are removed by these filters.

Reverse osmosis membrane

To eliminate the majority of total dissolved solids from water, the reverse osmosis membrane is the key stage of water filtration in this unit. The membrane traps the most difficult to remove contaminants like arsenic, lead, chlorine, fluoride and others.

Alkaline filter

Providing a thorough 5 stages of water remineralization, the system’s alkaline filter antioxidizes and oxygenates water for a better tasting, healthier result. Minerals are ionically activated, so water picks up a higher mineral content as it passes through the filter.

Post activated carbon filter

Before the water can flow from the storage tank to the faucet, it passes through a final carbon filter, which removes any impurities water may have picked up from the tank, giving it a cleaner taste and appearance.

🚦 Performance

The Express Water 10-Stage Reverse Osmosis System operates on 40-80 PSI water pressure, depending on the temperature, type and flow of the drinking water that enters the system. Generally, a water pressure of 60 PSI is optimum for good water flow with minimal wastage and a faster tank refill. Users may need to purchase a booster pump for increased efficiency if water flow is lower than the average.

This RO system operates on a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio, depending on water pressure inside the unit. This means that for every 1 gallon of water that is produced, 3 or 4 of these gallons are lost down the drain. The 1:4 ratio is standard for all reverse osmosis systems that don’t have a built-in feature for improving RO efficiency.

🔧 Installation & Maintenance

The Express Water Alkaline Reverse Osmosis Filtration System can be set up by a user without the need for professional installation. All components are included in the purchase price of the system, and the tank can be sat upright or on its side for the best fit in an under sink space.

The system is compatible with 3/8″ and 1/2″ under sink connections and comes with a filter wrench, a user instructions manual, quick connect features and color coded components to make installation as simple as possible.

Filters will need to be changed every 6 months for optimum system performance, and the unit can be cleaned as per the product’s instruction manual. The filters and RO membrane do not require cleaning. It’s recommended that the RO membrane is replaced every 1 to 2 years depending on usage. The storage tank will not need to be replaced.

📝 Filter Info

This water filtration system consists of a sediment filter, carbon block and carbon granular filters, a semi-permeable membrane, a 5 stage alkaline filter, and a post activated carbon filter.

Each filter removes a variety of impurities and contaminants in the water, and the alkaline filter remineralizes the water with calcium, magnesium, potassium and other minerals. All filters have a 6 month to 2 year life expectancy and can be purchased separately online when it’s time to change them.

🔔 Pros & Cons

Pros

  • With its remineralization filters, this system offers an effective solution for users looking to remove contaminants from their water while still enjoying the benefits of minerals, antioxidants and better-tasting water.
  • Simple installation does not require the help of an expert to carry out the job. Color coded parts and easy-attach components allow for easy installation by the user.
  • Water pressure gauge enables users to monitor the flow rate of water in the system, and indicates when the unit is processing water. Users can take action to improve water flow rate for efficiency if water pressure gauge indicates low pressure.

Cons

  • The system remineralizes water automatically for every batch of RO water that is produced. There is no option to alter system setting to produce pure, mineral-free water if ever desired by the user.
  • Depending on a user’s drinking water pressure, flow rate might not be high enough for efficient reverse osmosis. A user may have to purchase an additional booster pump to minimize water waste.
